About this Training
The Facilitation & Learning Strategies training from the Academic Success Center equips student leaders with interpersonal skills and academic strategies for effectively supporting their peers. This training draws from aspects of the Academic Success Center's certified training programs in Peer Education, Peer Tutoring, and Supplemental Instruction to bring the essentials of academic peer leadership to other departments and teams across the campus community.
This 1-hour training covers aspects of community-building, communication tips for improving students' confidence, and specific strategies for engaging students in their own learning process. By participating in this training, student leaders will reflect on their own learning and peer leadership experiences while also practicing specific strategies that can be applied directly in their peer support role(s). This training can be beneficial to student leaders at any point in the semester but is especially popular as a pre-semester training for both new and experienced Help Room tutors, Teaching Assistants, and other undergraduate or graduate students who serve in academic support roles.
